Today we have a special lesson. We are going not only study, but play a little bit, listen to music, read poetry. That is why you were divided into 3 groups. Every team has the name. Can you introduce and put your name down.

Thank you!

During this lesson you will get points, if you work hard. If you have many balls in the end of our lesson you will get good and excellent marks.

So, let’s start.

Выдаются карточки, где есть русские и английские четверостишья. Необходимо сопоставить, составив в итоге песню»Auld lang syne» («Старое доброе время»). Учащиеся работают в группах.

Карточки:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind Should auld acquaintance be forgot And auld lang syne

Does anybody really know the words? Might as well sing along Happy New Year, baby, Happy New Year, baby

For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We’ll take a cup of kindness yet For auld lang syne For auld lang syne

Happy New Year to you and your friends And have a drink on me Happy New Year to you too And have a drink on me

No other name is more synonymous with the title “The voice of Scotland” than that of the poet Robert Burns.

A farmer and a farmer’s son, Burns was born at Alloway, Scotland. He was the eldest of the seven children of William Burness , and spent his early years in the two-room cottage his father had built .

He was 7 years old, when his father sold the house and began to work on the farm. Here Burns grew up in poverty and hardship.

His education was not neglected. Robert had little

regular schooling and got much of his education from

his father, who taught his children reading, writing,

arithmetic, geography, and history. Also his teacher was

John Murdoch, who opened a school in Alloway in 1763 and taught Latin, French and mathematics. Then Robert was sent to the Parish school.

(Education - education was not neglected, regular schooling, to get much of one’s education from teacher, reading, writing, to open a school, to teach Latin, French and mathematics, arithmetic, geography, history, was sent to the Parish school.
